My mission is to use my creativity, cultural awareness, and communication skills to build a brand that integrates my three interests: beauty and fashion, design, and social media.
My name is Serena Mamlouk and I am a third-culture kid – born in Dallas, raised in Dubai, and originally Syrian. At the age of three, my family and I moved to the glittering desert oasis of Dubai – a world away from my tree-lined cul-de-sac in suburban Plano, Texas. My parents made sure I was comfortable with the uncomfortable – every summer, I did a “week without walls” where we would travel to marginalized communities in places like Tanzania, Laos, and South Africa to do service work.
I just graduated in May 2024 from my undergraduate degree at Southern Methodist University (SMU) where I graduated as Fashion Media Major with a Advertising Minor.
A few years ago, I officially started my creative career with @serena.illustrations where I created digital illustrations for individuals and brands from whom I’d receive commissions. Last year, I jumped at the opportunity to work part-time with Nayeb Hospitality, a family-run business innovating in the Dallas culinary scene. I have had the chance to flex my creative muscles and develop a new set of practical skills working with them to create menus, craft their social media presence, and design their in-store graphics for three of their restaurants. My journey is just getting started – stay tuned for more!
